Below the surface, rigid, spartan and endless warfare. For centuries, he simply fought for the belief that it would allow his creators, the First Civilization, to rise to the surface and prosper, while he and his comrades held the line. He was known only as Warforged, as were his comrades, lacking individuality. Due to a loss of supplies, it was decided that the Warforged must ascend to the surface and contact their creators. Upon rising to the surface he found himself cut off and alone from his allies, emerging into an ongoing skirmish between two human factions. Nomad was born deep below the surface, amid a rigid society of constructs, spartan living conditions and endless warfare. For centuries, he simply fought for the belief that it would allow his creators, the First Civilization, to rise to the surface and prosper, while he and his comrades held the line. He was known only as Warforged, as were his comrades, lacking individuality.

Taking pause however, he was conflicted by this position. For thousands of years, he and his comrades fought to allow their creators on the surface to achieve greatness. And yet this was not to be. War over land and resource ran rampant, lords bickered and could have chosen peace, but still the battle progressed. And among it all he had only served as a tool to execute the battle for payment, much like the soldiers who cheered and looted their enemies for gold. In that moment, Nomad lost his identity as Warforged, lost faith in his mission, and abandoned his duty. The crystals would have served useful to an army for a day or two at most, but alone he thrived for weeks walking the surface of the world and learning their customs.

He is a close friend to 3:36, often sharing theories of existence with the fellow construct. While initially distrustful of Evellon, he came to trust them during their time in the Quarantine Zone. He values Torgold's outlook on life, as well as Lyra's fierce protectiveness and desire to do good.

He is concerned with the behaviors of Kierath, understanding that her need to consume brains is within her nature, but fearing what that nature could possibly be. He was distrusting of Abraxus due to his appearing disregard of life, falsely holding him responsible for the carnage that took Phandalin.

Nightmare
He first appeared in the Nightmare campaign as an aid to Father Josef's clinic in Raven's Roost, deep within the Quarantine Zone. Upon meeting the party, he was initially cautious of their arrival and intents within the zone, as was Josef. To gain their trust, the party journeyed to retrieve supplies from Davros, only to find him succumbed to the plague. Undeterred, the supplies were collected and returned to the clinic.

Nomad chose to accompany the party as they resolved several tasks for patients of the clinic, before culminating in assisting them with their true goal of obtaining information from a ledger in the areas Merchant Guild. After returning to the Clinic, Father Josef informed the party of his concerns regarding the Lord of Raven's Roost, believing him to have fallen victim to a curse or charm. Providing them with a potion to cleanse the effects, the party set off for The Lord's Keep.

Infiltrating The Lord's Keep, Nomad ventured with Thoma and Calaxes. Their efforts of stealth were undermined by a poor attempt to sabotage a Teleportation Circle resulting in Nomad being warped to the front of the keep, and an attempt to open a magically trapped chest erupting with a Thunderwave. Despite these setbacks, the trio regrouped with the party and tended to the Lords condition, removing the effects that obscured him to his actions before once again returning to the Clinic.

With a scroll recovered from the Lord, Grimvar attempted to scry the source of the plague, only to find a disruptive barrier deep within the sewers.

Heart of Gold
As the party arrive to Waterdeep, they are met by Nomad. Having traveled the Sword Coast, he has become disturbed by the wanton spread of warfare, tracing it back to the Death of Bahamut. Some investigation of the surrounding scenes led him to discover the parties input into this incident, as he sought them out. He plans to aid the party in setting right balance, and ending this war.

As the party journeyed through the city, Nomad paused to speak with a captive Sharran, who had attempted to commune with the party seeking assistance with returning a gold bar to his family. Attempting to take the bar, Nomad was caught in an attempt of sleight of hand by nearby guards, but recovered by appearing as a belligerent, hapless figure.

Nomad became especially wary of the members Abraxus and Kierath during their time in the city, the former for his quickness to execute a fleeing civilian, and the latter for her chosen palette of brain-eating. Despite this, when Abraxus was assassinated Nomad assisted in taking down his killer, the Sharran-indoctrinated Assassin ___.

In a spot of downtime, Nomad assisted a group of Selunite clerics in the Field Ward near the Northern Gate. During his time here, a Selunite soldier approached with a fallen Sharran soldier in arms; his sister, struck and poisoned by his own greataxe. Nomad endeavored to retrieve a vial of antidote, one which did not come readily due to its use on a Sharran being perceived as wasteful. By infecting himself, he was tended to by his fellow clerics, taking advantage of a brief distraction to steal and escape with his would-be cure. The Sharran soldier was saved, the siblings leaving quickly to avoid further trouble from the cloister.
